I partnered with Legal Link as Compass Family Service's Community Navigator Fellow to utilize "legal first-aid" training to assess client's legal barriers and create a plan to ensure successful referrals to legal services. I was able to collaborate with the fellows team and the Legal Link attorney to ensure the best outcome for my clients.

In this position, I answered any questions that students had about food security, housing, and other financial resources. I also assisted students with applying for Calfresh by using the GetCalfresh.org website to ensure successful application submissions. Additionally, I followed-up with students after submitting their application until they were awarded benefits, and advocated on behalf of students who faced issues with their benefits by contacting county partners.

The primary focus of this research was to better understand the relationships between rural communities in Latin America and the non-profits who partner with them to promote sustainable development. I assisted with transcribing and translating focus group interviews and in-depth interview data collected from Costa Rica and Paraguay. I also helped identify ongoing trends and themes found within the data.
