As the General Manager of Austin Energy I have the pleasure to lead an organization of over 1,700 employees focused on safely delivering clean, affordable, reliable energy and excellent customer service. Austin Energy is the City of Austin's municipally owned and operated electric utility serving over 470,000 retail customers with a service territory of 206 square miles within the City and 231 square miles in surrounding Travis and Williamson counties. Fort Collins, Colorado Area

Responsible for the oversight and management of Platte River Power Authority to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, environmentally responsible, and cost effective energy and services to the communities of Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Loveland, Colorado. Lead a team of 250 exceptional employees who are dedicated to making a difference at work, in the communities we serve, and where we call home. Report to an eight member board of directors including the mayors from each of Platte River's four owner communities. Focused on developing flexible strategies to advance Platte River in a responsible manner and position the organization to integrate evolving technologies. Work with stakeholders and policy makers to reach consensus for advancing strategic initiatives.

Responsible for meeting customer demand at competitive prices while maximizing the value of Austin Energy’s generation resources. Purview of more than 3,000 MW of installed generating capacity including nuclear, coal, gas steam, combined cycle, simple cycle gas turbines, wind, solar and biomass. Worked with a diverse team of employees who are distributed throughout energy market operations, power production, engineering services, and quality and compliance. Responsible for an annual capital, O&M, fuel and purchase power budget of approximately $500 million, and responsible for risk oversight management relative to Austin Energy’s participation in the ERCOT wholesale energy market. Lead the effort to develop and implement long range strategic and generation resource plans to meet City of Austin and Austin Energy initiatives. Responsible for seeking city council approval for purchasing and contracts relative to my area of responsibility.

Responsible for the acquisition and integration of renewable resources and all of the company’s energy efficiency and demand side management programs. Ensured a culture of compliance while managing the dispatch and marketing of Black Hills Power, Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power, Black Hills Colorado Electric, and Black Hills Generation electric generating facilities. Black Hills Corporation is a diversified energy company with both regulated electric and gas utilities and non-regulated business units. Actively participated on the company’s leadership team and responsible for corporate strategic planning and implementation. Responsible for managing the company’s wholesale power sales contracts and partnerships along with the acquisition and disposition of assets. Developed electric resource plans and managed utility commission application and approval processes. Responsible for the direct oversight of resource acquisitions through a formal competitive process. Established employee performance goals and development plans to ensure long range succession plans were in place.

Provided direction and oversight for the energy marketing operations for Black Hills Power, Inc., Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power and Black Hills Colorado Electric. Developed Integrated Resource Plans and the eventual generation resource supplies.
