About Jacqueline Schafer-Clay

I am Jacqueline Schafer Clay, OTD, MOTR/L, C-SIPT, a veteran licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) and an avid fieldwork educator. I have been a teacher to school students who have displayed signs of Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as to OT students formally accepted into AOTA accredited programs or students simply considering OT as a career. While I know I will teach, in the end my students will have to learn from life. My desire is to only equip my students with proven skills and knowledge free of any bias or confinement. Life’s unpredictable challenges should make them question what they learned, so they may improve tomorrow on what I teach them today. You would tap my expertise if you needed a leader that utilizes a student-centered approach to teaching; someone who leans on a variety of learning styles and instructional design models for effective pedagogy. Being a very communicative and collaborative person, I foster relationships with students directly through professional interaction and experience so I can reach them where they are and not necessarily expect students to synchronize to my wavelength. An all-inclusive participation model combined with research and fieldwork assignments define my sessions. Learners are required to present evidence-backed research, defend their positions, and lead to new learning. Students, peers, or supervisors who have formally assessed my teaching performance have consistently scored me high on my ability in explaining/demonstrating evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, professionalism, and treatment techniques. A strong work ethic combined with integrity and fairness, aptly define my reputation. I am proud in also being disciplined in managing my time and opportunities within academic institutions to make the most of what is given to me - this being evident from my own humble academic track record. I exhibit a genuine sense of respect for diversity and always act in the interest of advancing knowledge.
