Leading cross functional teams to initiate consolidation, standardization, and leveraging/bunding opportunities; Participating on global teams to consolidate spend, standardize and leverage buying power to reduce costs; Developping purchasing plans consistent with aproved budgets that require major purchases for various plant site projects; Maintaining knowledge of world market conditions in commodities of interest; Taking appropriate purchasing action to negotiate contracts or orders based on knowledge of market and expected future trends; Monitoring markets to stay abreast of prices and availibility;studies and evaluate producers to insure their ability to supply; Analysing and evaluating materials to be purchased,considering delivery,quantity and quality; Evaluating and selecting vendors in area of responsability; Negotiating with vendors as necessary before agreeing to a contract or purchase order; Securing the most favorable prices consistent with overall considerations of quality, quantity, delivery date, special services, and past performance of vendors; Reviewing with Legal Department new or revised terms of contracts. Bringing problems or potential problems indirectly to the attention of the Director of Sourcing and counsel; Preparing premilary bid evaluations and determines if bidders have met requiremenst of specifications; Determining bidder qualification by contactiing other companies for which they have done work; Maintaining alternate supply sources; and Providing advice and promoting harmonious working relationships between the procurement founction, vendors and other Clariant departments.
