I started my legal career at what is nowadays so eloquently called a "boutique style"​ legal firm. During my tenure at the small firm, my legal foundations were solidly cast. I received invaluable training and guidance from my "old school" partner. Our firm was based on the principles of honesty, integrity and dedication to clients. Even though I obtained extensive experience in a broad spectrum of legal work, I developed a passion for the negotiation of commercial transactions and the drafting of the concomitant agreements. I was also responsible for all aspects relating to the management of the firm. I soon realised that I have a keen interest in, and thoroughly enjoy, the management of a legal practice.After my previous business partner retired, I merged my firm with Smit Sewgoolam Incorporated. Smit Sewgoolam Inc. is a medium-sized legal firm in Johannesburg and employs in excess of 60 employees. Here I again found opportunity to follow my passion for commercial work and the management of a legal firm.
