About Jacques Schröder

I am a Professional Engineer specializing in systems engineering and whole lifecycle management of systems. My background is primarily Electrical Engineering, but through natural progression in my career I have moved on to broader fields of engineering. I participate in projects of the Department of Defense, specifically SA Air Force and consult on relevant projects to various industry role players. Projects range from certification of aircraft test equipment to redesigning and modifying of electrical systems on passenger and fighter aircraft. I have a passion for alternate/renewable energy and strive to be involved in as many projects related to this field as possible. I have a wide range of experience in new energy solutions, solar power, battery power and backup power solutions. Through this I have gained hands on experience developing, designing and installing various solar systems for home and small business use. I am a firm believer that there is always a cleaner and greener solution to most of life's power requirement challenges. As the lead Engineer in my department I am responsible for certification and commissioning of all ground systems related electrical projects.My most recent achievement is bringing about an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle capability within my directorate. I head the UAV system, serve as Chief Pilot and instructor and manage the maintenance and operational readiness of the system. We are involved in visual inspections, mapping, surveying, site assessments, construction monitoring, mast and tower inspections, aerial videography and a myriad of other UAV capabilities for relevant equipment and sites that fall under my area of responsibility. Most recently our UAV had been used to aid in aircraft crash investigations. Our knowledge and expertise are also required outside at times and we freely liaise and share data as much as we are permitted.
