About Jacqui Burnes
Over the past 10 years I've worked across numerous facets of Melbourne’s creative community as an artist, curator, gallery manager and gallery founder. Beginning my career within the arts as an illustrator, I was also Co-Founder and Co-Director of Enough Space–a small gallery in Prahran, in which our key focus was establishing a south-side venue for innovative and accessible artistic endeavours. Lending my hand to Craft Victoria led me to my position with Brunswick Street Gallery where I am now Gallery Manager and at the forefront of an exciting new era for the gallery.

Comprised of seven gallery spaces and a busy Stockroom, BSG offers an exciting schedule of new exhibitions opening every three weeks. Working closely to support the work of emerging to established artists, the team of curators, technicians and advisors at BSG are also proud to partner with some of Australia’s leading indigenous art centres. Located in the historic Shawcross Building, BSG offers a welcoming and contemplative retreat from the bustling streets of Fitzroy. Within walking distance from numerous cultural destinations, BSG is a storied gallery with a long standing reputation for supporting the work of emerging artists, and the diverse cultural fabric of this vibrant city. With a keen interest in the representation and support of emerging artists, myself and the Brunswick Street Gallery team have worked to ensure that the creative program has remained diverse, accessible, educational, and ultimately an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for all. The ongoing development of BSG’s Stockroom and special projects, including partnerships with some of Australia’s renowned Indigenous Art Centres has been a highlight of my time with the gallery to date. BSG Projects introduces an exciting chapter for the gallery, and one that I look forward to developing as I work to connect our team, our partnering Art Centres and represented artists with collectors worldwide.

Enough Space is creative concept space in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Prahran.Run by two friends, we set out to become a staple south-side venue for innovative and accessible artistic endeavours, establishing itself as a keen supporter of the emerging creative, showcasing works through exhibitions, workshops, pop-up shops and night specific installations. Located on Greville Street Prahran, Enough Space joins a host of independent, like minded businesses whose focus is on developing a community-orientated cultural hub.As Co-Director my role is all encompassing; ranging from scouting and booking artists for exhibitions, to curation, installation and art direction, to social media marketing and copywriting for varying publications.

Craft’s Window Walk Project brings together contemporary craftspeople and local businesses throughout the City of Melbourne, creating meaningful and diverse collaborations. Spread across more than 20 locations and featuring more than 40 artists, the Window Walk presents an exciting range of installations that invite you to explore the hidden gems of our great city and the craftspeople that make it so. _______I began my time with the team at Craft with administrative tasks, as well as retail and exhibition duties during 2017 to 2018. I was tasked with writing artist interviews and profiles for the Craft Victoria website, and updating their artist bios for use in the retail and digital space. I was employed at Craft Victoria to execute the Craft Cubed Festival Window Walk Project for 2017 and 2018. This included selecting artists through application, creating and updating databases and the Craft Victoria website, and site visits. More administrative tasks also involved liaising with artists and venues alike to create meaningful collaborations between the two, and being a middle man to ensure the process is as smooth as possible. The Craft Cubed Window Walk project filled the City of Melbourne with installations and site specific artworks in various locations from August 1-31st 2017 and 2018.
