Jacqui is a director of Work Fit Moving and Handling Solutions based in Leeds, providing innovative, evidence-based moving and handling / person handling training and consultancy services nationally to diverse organisations including the NHS, local government, the private and third sectors. Jacqui is a founder member of the National Back Exchange and was the editor of 'column' from 2000 to September 2011. She is the editor of the 5th and 6th editions of The Guide to the Handling of People (Backcare 2005 and 2011) and a co-author of the 6th edition and of Guidance in Manual Handling for Chartered Physiotherapists (2002, 2008, 2014). An early and passionate advocate of balanced decision making and enablement in person handling practice, Jacqui is a visiting lecturer for Loughborough University's Masters in Ergonomics (Health and Community Care), Module DSP120 Patient HandlingJacqui is a former chairman of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics and her keen interest in the relationship between work and health led her to the concept of 'work instability' that has provided the platform for many years of research by the Academic Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Leeds, and to the development of validated clinical and occupation-specific screening tools (Work Screens) designed to identify a mismatch between job demands and work capacity at a very early stage, with the aim of limiting sickness absence and the risk of work loss.Since 1987 she has provided expert witness services, mainly liability reports in work related personal injury cases in the health and social care sectors.Specialties: Jacqui has a particular interest and expertise in an ergonomics systems approach to the prevention and management of work relevant MSDs, particularly in the health and social care sectors and a commitment to patient safety, dignity and enablement.
