Working at the Mott Community College Bookstore has really taught me a lot of things. Beginning my time there in the middle of December of 2018 I got brought in the midst of their busy season before winter semester began. Being throw in taught me how to adapt to my surroundings quickly and that is a great skill to have. I started out just stocking the merchandise and helping customers find the items they needed, then I moved up to cashier and during rush that could mean you were on your feet for hours with a steady flow of customers and not having many breaks! Then I was moved back to the Online Order Room, where it was just me and one other co worker processing over 150 orders per day and having to pull the merchandise then process the payment and then pack and ship them! In my second year of working there I was promoted to Head Cashier and was allowed to perform managerial functions on the cash registers and computer systems and this allowed me to help the employees that could not override or do special functions. This job really showed me what hard work was and how rewarding it can be when you push to do you best!

Working at the Elkins Insurance Agency really was the best first job a person could ask for! It started out only being a few hours a week from when i got out of school until I had practice or a school event. I would alphabetize files and scan in client files. This job first started out by showing me the most basic aspects of clerical work and how to be professional in a business setting. As I got older and moved up in grades at school I was able to work more hours and gain more duties; before I knew it I was 2nd in line to handle client relations. I would reach out to clients or accept phones calls from them and listen their problems and evaluate what needed to be done, I problem solve to be able to provide the service they needed and if it was out of my abilities I would gather all my notes and hand it to the next person in line. I would listen in and watch the things they did so I would know next time how to solve the problem! Working at the Elkins Insurance Agency really brought out my passion with working in the Insurance Business and found out how much I enjoyed working with clients that I have built a relationship with and how amazing it was to be able to solve their problems and make their lives easier for them!
