Facilitate the Access Technology Prototyping Lab’s continued contribution to the design and development of functional high quality, low cost assistive devices and the related scalable infrastructure. Responsibilities, R & D: Research and test various materials used in 3D-printing, coordinate communication between Haiti research team and ECF Partners to develop improved materials for future use. Improve designs for low-cost 3D-printed upper limb prostheses to enhance accessibility and utility for underserved communities throughout the world. Develop educational materials and workflows to introduce 3D-printing/scanning technology to traditionally trained prosthetists, especially in low-income countries, to encourage sustainable systems of low-cost accessible prosthetic care in high-need environments. Speak and provide demonstrations at international conventions. Conduct field research internationally. Provide grant writing support for team. Responsibilities, Haiti Project Team Lead: Coordinate activities and data collection with prosthetists on site at the Healing Hands for Haiti (HHH) Clinic 3D-print lab, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Train on new printing/scanning technologies as needed to improve the project outcomes. Organize team visits to site, and work on fundraising activities to support project. Work with HHH administration to encourage greater autonomy and develop partnerships. Refine the process from patient arrival to exodus, and work with Haitian Prosthetists to develop a well-oiled feedback loop for testing design iterations. Proactively seek promotional and funding opportunities, and forge new connections that may lead to such funding opportunities. Assemble team and organize daily plan for on-site visits to ensure no time is wasted and each team member is utilized to their fullest to support and exceed goals, and to use any “mistakes” as springboards for system improvement. Collect, record and analyze all data from Clinical Worksheets & Personal Interviews, create Patient Profiles, and ensure all photos and recordings are ethically gathered for our Media team. Work to iterate system in other areas of the world.

Responsibilities: maintaining lab function: personnel and equipment, assisting students and overseeing student projects, organizing and teaching at various workshop events, design & manufacture of 3D-printable assistive devices, ordering lab supplies, reporting to my supervisor regularly on various activities of the lab, and with any luck: helping people live happier, more fulfilled lives.
