Municipal Services Director
Multi-disciplinary supervisor and administrator involved the overall planning, coordination and leadership of the Municipal Services Department. Functional areas of responsibility include the Building & Inspection Services, Planning Services, Engineering Services, Facilities Maintenance and Public Works Divisions.Formulates strategic goals & objectives for areas of responsibility, and works with the Township Supervisor and other Directors to integrate these into overall Township goals & objectives, plans and programs.Reviews and authorizes the plans and programs of subordinates, ensuring that they are in harmony with and in furtherance of Township strategic goals & objectives, plans and programs.Develops and authorizes specific levels of service for each functional area of responsibility ensuring operational efficiency, innovation, best use of physical and financial resources, and public responsibility; evaluates the performance against these levels of service and coaches and develops subordinates in improving their job performance.Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are properly utilized within the department.Prepares and presents the annual departmental budget request to the Township Board; ensures that all departmental funds, physical assets and other property are properly constructed, operated and maintained.Meets with Township Officials, citizens, businesses and representatives of various civic groups to review concerns, explain departmental programs and develop positive public relations.Attends and participates in meetings of Township Board and various Committees and Commissions as needed. Reviews & edits a considerable volume of technically complex materials in support of these meetings.Represents the Township on numerous regional and state committees and organizations (i.e. Alliance of Rouge Communities, Great Lakes Water Authority, Western Townships Utilities Authority, MiWARN, SEMCOG, etc.)
