Jade Fang Email and Phone Number
Hi there! My name is Jade (Joshua) Fang, and I use they/she pronouns. I am a research assistant for the Labor Markets section in the Division of Research and Statistics at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, located in Washington, DC. I graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rice University in May 2024 with a Distinction in Research and Creative Works. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematical Economic Analysis and Social Policy Analysis with a minor in Data Science. I also completed a senior thesis, entitled "Effects of Welfare Reform on Intergenerational Mobility for Non-High School Educated, Female-Headed Households," under Prof. YingHua He. This paper earned me two economics departmental awards: the Gaston Rimlinger Prize and Honors in Economics. Through my coursework and research, I established a strong foundation in empirical analysis (primarily using R, Stata, and Python), evidence synthesis, and writing. Furthermore, my grassroots organizing experience promoting nonpartisan youth civic engagement at Rice University and in Houston has honed my leadership, teamwork, and public speaking skills. Leveraging my analytical and interpersonal competencies, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics and an applied microeconomics research career to empower marginalized communities by generating evidence to promote effective, equitable policy solutions to complex social problems. Overall, I am confident in my ability to make a positive impact in the field of economics, and I am eager to continue learning and growing through any opportunity that comes my way.
