The Bubbling Peaberry Café also incorporated a gift section and made to order sweets and treats. Baked goods and gifts, cupcakes, doughnuts, mini cakes, milk tarts, and gifts for any occasion.While there I filled in wherever I was needed. From general assistant duties to assisting in the café itself, serving and busking, and also helping with office duties that come with orders and keeping things in order. Covid being what it is, the café was forced to open can close, shortly after it had just launched. The loss in revenue resulted in my post being made redundant, and the owner undertook to do everything herself. I now find myself submitting my resume to the workplace again.

The Cradle of Hope is an N.P.O is a large organization based in the West Rand. It started out as a shelter for abused women and children (which it still has) but has also expanded into 15 various outreach programmes. I was based at the head office as a General Assistant. In this role, I assisted with receiving, sorting, and handing out donations. Assisting any of the department heads with whatever was needed. When Covid hit, people in need came from all over Johannesburg seeking food and whatever assistance they could get. Packing food parcels, and assisting with the delivery thereof became a huge part of the post. Many food donations were received in bulk, and these bulk bags needed to be portioned out so that it could have a far-reaching effect. Unfortunately, I moved to Pretoria for family reasons, and my time at The Cradle of Hope came to an end.

Studentwise is one of South Africa’s leading promotions, activations, and eventing agencies. They offer a wide range of promotional assignments and the assignments keep things fresh and interesting for all involved. While there I was offered promotional posts such as marketing various new products within shopping malls, handing out pamphlets and doing market research. Each post was based on a customer spec, and with this variety coming into each event, I thoroughly enjoyed the environment. Having said that, the nature of the work is not consistent and I had to find something that was more stable.

Working for the FigTree Food Lovers Market was something I fell back into, having worked at Food Lovers before. My family did their share of moving cities over these years, following work opportunities, and therefore I was forced to move along with them. Having worked before at the Metlife Food Lovers Market, it was just like getting back onto a bicycle. Sadly the Food Lovers Market Fig Tree has now permanently closed down

My duties while there included packing shelves, assisting at the tills with packing, and any ad hoc duties as I was required. I assisted in the Hot Foods Plaza and in the salad bar, ensuring that all foods were fresh and neatly presented and assisting customers with their needs. I moved cities with my family and my time with MetLife Food Lovers Market came to an end.
