Jaime Baker Email and Phone Number
A former journalist and UX Designer who's now running an eCommerce clothing business. I launched The Rainbow Stores in 2021 because I found there was nowhere to buy clothes that allowed LGBTQ+ people to express themselves quietly. To be able to feel part of their community without having to wear a huge pride flag. I'm managing the overall business, designing the clothing and overseeing all the creative aspects of the business. We started relatively small, with a capsule launch collection, but now we have built that up and we're growing. Targeting a niche audience that's inaccessible through social advertising has posed a few challenges. On top of that we launched in a pandemic, followed by a war and a recession. Far from ideal for a clothing startup. Before this I worked for Haymarket Media Group for 24 years, as a journalist and editor on motorsport titles, editor in chief across all digital content and Head of UX at the company's content marketing agency. I worked across a number of global brands from Castrol and British American Tobacco to World Athletics. In the last two years I led the UX on WhatCar! Buying, which moved the brand from pure review magazine to a car buying portal. Those years at Haymarket gave me the tools to create this business. Not just the work tools, but many of the emotional tools too. Like any start up this is going to be a wild ride for a few years.

Founder And Creative DirectorThe Rainbow Stores Jan 2021 - PresentLondon, England, United KingdomThe Rainbow Stores is an eCommerce clothing retailer for LGBTQ+ people and I'm currently covering Creative Director and CEO roles.I effectively set the entire business up on my own, from researching product suppliers and building the store site within the Shopify ecosystem, to writing all the policy documents, designing a gender neutral product filtering framework and copywriting all the product descriptions, blogs and digital marketing mailouts. I also decide what lines we feature, design all the clothes, set up all the photoshoots and manage the social media. It’s full on. My Marketing Agency DNA Creative manage advertising and marketing plus SEO. Currently we’re print on demand by I’m in the process of researching suppliers to allow us to start manufacturing and fulfilment ourselves. -

Lead Ux DesignerHaymarket Media Group Mar 2014 - Jun 2020Twickenham, United KingdomMy role at Haymarket was initially across all sites but I ultimately was solely within Haymarket's Automotive division focussed on extending What Car? from the UK's most respected car review site to one that allows people to buy their next new car. I managed a team of five during the entire design/UX process and was individually responsible for research, testing and IA across the new car buying sections and on a new CMS.The UX team had responsibility for What Car? and Autocar, two of the biggest names in the sector, plus the most popular classic brand Classic and Sportscar and also Car & Accessory Trader, and we managed a transformation of each brand over three years.Until Automotive split off I was Lead UX at Haymarket Consumer where I focussed on FourFourTwo, Stuff and What Hi-Fi?. -
Head Of Digital CreativeHaymarket Network Jan 2001 - Aug 2014TeddingtonHaymarket Network (now called Wonderly) is Haymarket Media Group's client facing agency where I was fortunate enough to work for some great brands, including Volkswagen, the IAAF, British Olympic Association, Williams F1 Team, DHL, ITV-Sport and British American Tobacco. I was responsible for UX, design and content across all these clients and during my time at Network I was part of the team that built corporate, consumer, campaign and B2B sites as well as applications, intranets and extranets. -
Head Of Digital ContentHaymarket Network Jan 2001 - Jan 2005As a progression from my time as a journalist I moved to Haymarket Network to oversee all content across digital channels for all their clients. This included planning and content strategy, managing a content team, mentoring, and training print journalists in how to write digital content. I also worked closely with development teams on the usability of our content management systems so that my writers could be spending more time writing and less time uploading.
