I have been working in the conservation/land management field with the US Fish and Wildlife Service since spring of 2013. My USFWS career started at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge where my basic job duties included invasive species control, manipulating water levels, habitat restoration projects, and conducting biological surveys. I was also the lead technician for the Detroit River - Western Lake Erie Cooperative Weed Management Area where I worked with private and public partners with the common goal of stopping the spread of invasive species in Wayne and Monroe Counties of Michigan. The next step in my career was at the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Northern California in the Directorate Fellowship Program (DFP) where I surveyed Tulelake National Wildlife Refuge for invasives. I also created a protocol for standardizing my survey methods across the California Region. After the completion of the DFP program I went on to become the Assistant Refuge Manager at both the Julia Butler Hanson Refuge for The Columbian White-tailed Deer and Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuges which are both part of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
