I actually created this position at Premera Blue Cross. After being loaned out to Membership and Billing I created a hybrid position that combined the skill set of Membership and Billing with our Customer Service Represenatives. This role was for the Individual market. Prior to this role being created people were paying their premiums, however, they were not receiving their ID cards in a timely manner. In this position we could create the subscriber ID number with the member on the phone allowing them to go to the doctor or get prescriptions without needing the plastic ID card in hand. With this information the member could go online to premera.com and create an account. Here they could print off a temporary ID card while waiting for the plastic one to come into the mail. In this position, we were able to do cancellation request over the phone instead of the member having to submit a written request and waiting 30 days for us to process the cancellation. The old process normally had the members account drafted another month's of premiums and resulted in a call for a refund. The new role we could cancel the policy over the phone which ensured that the premiums wouldn't draft.

I did two tours to Iraq. First deployment was from November 2002-March 2004. Second deployment was from August 2008-2009. I was responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various signal equipment from FM radios, to computers, to satellite dishes.
