Manage a team of 15 people including shift process, electrical and mechanical technicians to ensure safe practice and efficient production. The site includes a sugar beet mill, sugar refinery, animal feed plant, effluent treatment plant and a combined heat and power plant. During operational periods the role includes analysis of trends and data to optimise production and maximise throughput. Other activities include ensuring compliance with health and safety, food safety and environmental legislation such as issuing of permits to work, implementing effective isolations and carrying out risk assessments. As well as this team development is managed through training, development plans and a technician competency program. The role also includes incident management, logging of all the incidents that have occurred on the shift as well as liaising with management and key functions within the factory.During non operation periods the shift performance manager role becomes management of maintenance areas ensuring that the progression of maintenance is on schedule, all relevant permits and risk assessments are completed and the management of technicians working in these areas. In particular this involves supervising work in confined spaces, chemical work, hot work and other high hazard maintenance work.
