As a Graduate Assistant I get put in charge of various activities. While running the activities I am in charge of managing our staff who are working the event. At some of the smaller events this is just making sure that they are doing their job. At bigger events such as our flag football or 5 on 5 basketball leagues, this can also include moving employees around to make games go as smoothly as possible. Other duties include working with the other Graduate Assistants, the Assistant Director, and the Director to schedule employees and do final planning on our larger activities. During my time I have been in charge of our Take- A- Bike program where we own and maintain a fleet of bicycles that students can use to get around campus.

During my time interning at Hays Recreation I learned many things. I learned some about facility maintenance and how to care for a softball/baseball field. I helped make schedules for summer basketball and softball leagues. I gained some insight into some of the administrative aspects. I helped operate the front desk which included answering the phone, helping people to sign up for events using Rec-It, and working with the payment system and register through Rec-It.

During my time here I helped officiate Intramural Sports and assist in running Intramural activities. Sports officiated included flag football, volleyball, basketball, and softball. Activities included things such as the longest drive competition and life size jenga.
