Career profile based on maintaining specialist management roles, where the emphasis has been based on technical leadership and innovation.Career Journey:• Early career working at MG Rover on emission technology, related to K series and M16 engine ranges. Evolution of emission control strategies through the late 80s and early 90s culminating in early hybrid vehicle concept study supported by the government. • My latter role within MG Rover Group was as “Principle Methods Engineer”, providing technological leadership to the evolution of test equipment and method technology.• Appointed as Chief Engineer to Nanjing Automotive UK, which enabled an opportunity to re-establish an R&D centre at Longbridge and to reengage former Rover engineering employees. • Provided leadership of the re-engineering and relocation of the MG Rover engine product range into Nanjing. This enabled, the development of Chinese capability to achieve European levels of emission control. Supporting these principles, the family relocated to China in 2007.• Relocated to Beijing after joining Westport as Chief Engineer, to support engineering activities including the implementation of Westport’s HPDI injection system in a joint venture partnership with Weichai Power. HPDI is a technology leader for a reduction of CO2 emissions of heavy duty trucks through direct gas injection. Current Role:Support the first phases of volume manufacture of the HPDI injector system from a UK base with a supply partner, Delphi, to bring to market this product that is proven to meet at least a 20% CO2 reduction and comply with all European Legislation. This includes the procurement, engineering and optimisation of advanced manufacturing equipment and processes as production capacity increases.
