• Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.• Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.• Prepares or directs preparation and modification of maps, reports, construction and material testing specifications, estimates, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.• Inspects construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.• Maintain all records for compliance with MDEQ wetland and storm water regulations. Including filling out and obtaining all necessary environmental permits.• Documents construction activities, prepares pay estimates and contract modifications.• Directs construction and maintenance activities at project site.• Performs various road, drainage, easement related surveys and stake as needed for projects.• Records necessary documentation, field notes, legal documents for recording of such surveys.• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software (AutoCAD) and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.• Meets with both public and private entities and the public to present, discuss, answer and explain proposed projects.• Reviews/inspects or directs the review and inspection of proposed plats for compliance with existing policies and construction procedures.• Supervises contractors and employees as they perform asphalt overlays, sealcoats, slurry seals, etc.• Handles engineering related complaints and inquires.• Coordinates with director of management for policies and procedures of daily operations and strategic planning.
