Thank you for viewing my profile! After graduating from Pratt Institute with my Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, I spent three years at Kaczmar Architects in Cleveland, Ohio, where I was responsible for a wide variety of things, from creating construction drawings, to rendering presentation walkthrough videos, to meeting with product representatives, and acquiring permits at city hall. We were a small but focused and highly collaborative team, working primarily within the fields of hospitality and education, though later on I was heavily involved in the design and document production of a new 30-unit townhouse project on Cleveland's East side. In addition, I've worked for a firm in Portland, Oregon, as well as working in the field of Architectural millworking.Eventually however, my desire to see the world and live in a different culture got the best of me, and I relocated (albeit temporarily) to Okayama, Japan to teach elementary and kindergarten-level English. I've kept my Revit skills sharp by doing freelance remote work- helping to design and make drawings for a former coworker's house back in Northeast Ohio. While teaching English uses a completely different set of skills than Architecture, I believe that my communication skills have greatly improved from this experience. I take pride in my ability to explain concepts in a way which is understandable and clear; whether it's teaching a grammar point to fifth graders in Japan, or presenting a site plan to a budget-conscious client.Living and working in Japan for the past year has truly been the most incredible and valuable experiences, but I feel it's the right time to return back to America and focus on building my career as an Architect. I know that the skills and knowledge I've gained will allow me to adjust quickly and successfully to working in a new environment. I have a strong commitment to getting things done right, and I'm not afraid to ask for help from my team if I struggle. I'm very excited for this next phase of my life and the opportunities it may bring!Thank you!
