After spending seven years in Japan teaching English as a foreign language to Elementary School Pupils, I returned to the UK and attained a PGDE in Secondary School Education with computing as my specialist subject. While in Japan, I took part in school activities, managed behaviour in the classroom, planned lessons and worked hard to allow young Japanese children to experience the English language. My time there allowed me to develop my creative, interpersonal and artistic skills while at the same time improving my abilities as a teacher.During my PGDE course I was placed in three different Secondary Schools in the North Lanarkshire and Glasgow areas, where I once again planned my own lessons, using both the schools' resources and my own. These resources included the development of small programs in LiveCode, Python and Visual Basic that were used as a form of demonstration. The pupils would recreate these before working on their own, similar programs. In addition, my time on placement had me working with several other software packages, including Graphics programs such as Adobe Fireworks, and office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.

If any activities are to be performed by the students, these activities must first be demonstrated by both myself and the Home Room Teacher or Japanese English Teacher present in the class. This involves working closely with the other teacher in the class so that the students will understand what they have to do, and liasing with those teachers out side of the class to finalize lesson plans.
