Designing and delivering a comprehensive, exercise based cardiac rehabilitation service as part of an MDT, for both highly functioning and lower functioning groups of patients, across the morecambe bay area.This role includes working alongside specialist nurses and physiotherapists to run comprehensive rehabilitation programmes, providing multiple exercise classes per week, home-based rehabilitation and educational talks. This role has challenged me and given many opportunities to learn new skills, from planning, leading and directing exercise classes with assistants who aid in the running of the sessions to overcoming barriers and utilising behaviour change techniques. I used my practical skills and academic knowledge to provide, up to date, current gold standards of cardiac rehabilitation and I aim to enhance the programme within my hospital and trust.

This role involved conducting health assessments on clients of various ages and health status’s.The test’s carried out include anthropometric measurements, body composition, blood pressure readings, ECG, phlebotomy and blood testing as well as musculoskeletal assessments.As a part of this role I was also responsible for carrying out cardiopulmonary exercise physiology tests, including Vo2max tests and spirometry. I also review and interpreted the client’s assessment results to provide guidance for the future.I have gained an incredible amount of experience from this role of working in a clinical setting as part of a medical team alongside General practitioners and physiotherapists as well as using skills from my academic tuition to advise people on lifestyle changes which will be beneficial to their long term health.
