My main responsibility was to make sure, as a warehouse team, we completed all the tasks needing to be done before leaving for the day. Most of the time, it meant coordinating orders from bicycle retailers to be shipped world-wide. I was able to successfully work with the office personnel and pickers to make sure the right parts went with the corresponding order. Once the order was complete it would be packed and shipped. Some of the time, it meant receiving an order; mainly containers of bicycles and/or parts being imported from China. We would sort the boxes by part number while verifying everything shipped appropriately. While the order was being sorted, we were also putting it away, and moving back-stock to the appropriate places. I left J&B with a nearly flawless record.

My responsibilities included repairing bicycles. Included in that was interacting with the customer to determine what problems the bike was having. After determining what was wrong, I would then come up with a solution and formulate a price by factoring in the cost of parts and the amount of labor needed to complete the job safely. I had two goals for every repair; make sure the customer got what they wanted and the bike left the building safe to ride.

At Flythe, I was much more than a mechanic -- without the title of course. I was more akin to a general manager while also being largely involved in customer service, sales, and repairs. It was my responsibility to reorder the parts that I sold as well as any special orders taken from customers or for repairs needing to be completed. I managed repairs that were left more than 30 days in order to keep the repair board and bike storage neat and efficient. I initiated social gatherings and promotions at community events as a marketing strategy, and also implemented Facebook as a tool for generating sales leads.
