Project: Michigan Predictive Activity and Clinical Trajectories study This study utilized wearable technology including the Apple Watch and a bluetooth blood pressure cuff alongside genetic information, EMR data, patient surveys, daily blood pressures, and Apple Watch activity to advance precision health and clinical outcomes research • Enrolled 7000 patients aged 18 – 90 and educated them on how to properly use the Apple Watch and blood pressure cuff. Enrollments lasted for two hours and consisted of significant troubleshooting to ensure all electronics were properly formatted and that participants May 2020 – May 2021 Aug 2018 – July 2019 had a good understanding of their role in the study. • Staffed the call center to help participants who were struggling to use any component of the technology while also screening and scheduling hundreds of callers interested in the study • Coordinated extensively with clinical directors at several Ann Arbor primary care clinics to identify eligible patients and stimulate interest in the study without disrupting clinical care

• Project: Viral diversity and tropism of reovirus and rotavirus • Learned and performed a wide variety of bench experiments including hemagglutination assays, protein and RNA purification, fluorescence assays, viral plaque assays, reverse genetics, RTPCR, western blotting, cell culturing, and many others. • Maintained all lab equipment, ordered all lab supplies, facilitated contact with vendors, managed the lab budge, trained undergraduate and graduate students. Served as the lab manager, research assistant, and primary educator for all rotating students. • I was the first to successfully reverse transcribe precise genetic mutations into a Rotavirus strain in America after the protocol was developed in Japan.

Project: Investigate the neural and cognitive mechanisms involved in the control, timing, and learning of motor actions in the context of Parkinson’s disease • Administered psychological questionnaires and computer simulations to patients to study the effects of drug therapy and Deep Brain Stimulation on split-second decision making, addictive behaviors, and depression • Analyzed EMG recordings from Parkinson’s patients to determine if decision making was impaired by the disease during computer tasks. Tests were performed with and without Deep Brain Stimulation to isolate the efficacy of this treatment modality on decision making.
