The Construction Professional Group Panel maintains and develops the knowledge and professional practice of surveying by providing market insight and advising on RICS programmes of work for Construction.

During my career at Faithful+Gould, I commercially managed several iconic developments across the UK and Middle East (£1million - £500million), including hotels, high-rise residential towers and mixed-use housing developments. My portfolio of Clients included Majid Al Futtaim, Macintyre Asset Management, IQ Student Accommodation and U+I. As Managing Quantity Surveyor, I was responsible for spearheading end-to-end cost management services, which started with initial feasibility cost studies and finished with project completion and handover. During this time I was the first point of contact between the client and the firm. Our main goal was to help residential developers get through viability stages, so that their project came to reality within a fairly short space of time. I did this by uncovering hidden design efficiencies, reducing build costs, while enhancing developer bottom line margin. I was also actively involved in the training and mentoring of junior members of staff, providing them with the necessary skills to become successful cost managers in the construction sector.

My years at Core Five LLP were instrumental to my growth and development as a professional services leader. The fast paced environment of a growing professional services firm helped develop the skills that would serve me well later in my career. My portfolio consisted of a large residential Clients including L&Q, Native Land and Sellar Property Group and several smaller development businesses. I was responsible for managing a team of junior quantity surveyors in executing field work and reporting findings to Clients. In addition to my responsibilities as a Quantity Surveyor, I also assisted in developing new process and procedures, to ensure the service output was of the highest technical standard.

My time at Frank Whittle Partnership was incredibly valuable and gave me the basic skills and knowledge I needed to propel my career and succeed in the construction industry. I had the opportunity to work with a range of different project stakeholders, where I learned the importance of collaboration, communication and problem solving in the construction industry.
