Hi there, my name is Jake and my passions are music, visual art and literature. I graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2016 with a Masters in Fine Art and continue to engage in a visual art practice while also working on musical projects both as a solo artist under various monikers and with other musicians. I’ve worked various jobs throughout my life to support these endeavors and, without going into extravagant and unnecessary detail here, learned something about the world or my own capabilities and preferences from each. Most recently I tutored Grade 1-3 schoolchildren in literacy skills through Ampact and found it very rewarding. So much so that I sought further educational opportunities, after which I very quickly found myself teaching music lessons for several instruments at Guitar Center and swiftly became the Lessons Lead, leveraging the more analytical part of my brain to create a great educational program. I consider myself technically and/or theoretically versed in music theory, guitar and piano performance, composition (musical, written, and visual), audio engineering, photoshop, color theory, slr camera operation, grammar and syntax, history of poetry, literary criticism and theory, pedagogical theory, art theory and history, as well as 20th century philosophy and French theory.
