These were early days of overhide and Ledger-Based Authorizations. We built Ethereum wrappers and built out a US dollar ledger--whose decentralized crypto-ledger properties were foundational to bringing overhide's value-propositions to everyone; not just decentralized Web early adopters.As the founder of overhide I was the author of core designs and write-ups, the main producer of code, and generally been a driver for community building and traction gathering efforts (Node, ES6, cljs, postgres, redis, kubernetes).

MCCG's Insurance Back Office (IBS) software is used by many Canadian Mutual Insurance companies. Binnj Inc. helps streamline workflows at many well-known companies through highly usable and functional iOS and Web solutions. As a lead engineer with one of our customers, I:○ worked with the customers' business analysts to capture and streamline workflows for their sales channel○ maintained a highly business-critical legacy system (Java/Play!, MySQL, Mongo, JavaScript, SalesForce)○ architected a replacement mobile system with client-side parallelism and offline capability; specifically reworking for caching and avoiding time consuming goal seeking○ redesigned a solar panel layout algorithm for significantly improved performance and accuracy (C++)○ fully implemented and maintained new back-end for the mobile solution (C++, Python, Obj-C, iOS)○ iteratively reworked the system’s operations user-interface for heavy data-entry (angular, JavaScript, Python/Flask, psql, redis, Bootstrap, CSS)

Cisco’s VideoScape (NDS' Unified Headend) is used by the World's largest telecommunication customers for all of their core cable/satellite functionality. As a member of the Professional Services team I was responsible for adapting various Cable headend software solutions to customer needs, more specifically I:○ lead a team and co-authored a large enterprise Java application (Tomcat/Oracle) to ingest Rovi metadata for a major Canadian communication company. ○ owned and authored a PPV offer ingest Java application through the full software life cycle (Tomcat/Oracle)○ influenced key decisions affecting system and component architecture○ was heavily involved in customer and 3rd party collaboration, in addition to coordinating with internal teams

Sandvine develops proprietary hardware/software networking solutions for top tier ISPs; solutions such as usage reporting, traffic shaping, and enforcement of network policy. Being a rounded generalist I made contributions to both the embedded platform and customer facing policy applications, more specifically I:○ designed and implemented an extension to a protocol reporting state of clustered nodes on a layer 2 switched fabric (C++, NetGraph, kernel and user space)○ abstracted a network policy quota management module from its usage counting data sources (C++, DSL, Tcl)○ took ownership of a unit test framework to test packages written in Sandvine's domain specific language○ encouraged novice team members to leverage software engineering best practices: coding, reviewing, testing

TVWorks developed interactive TV middleware for embedded devices and corresponding backend server systems. Here I authored code, modelled and designed subsystems, documented, lead efforts in, and otherwise became a subject matter expert within many areas of both embedded and server development. More specifically I:○ led development of highly multithreaded Java subsystems, arbitrating with multiple third parties○ integrated a vital statistics server (JBoss, Java, J2EE, Oracle) with third party to export Comcast’s usage statistics○ maintained server side libraries for VOD network configuration. (JBoss, Java, J2EE, Oracle, VOD backend)○ took ownership of a back end configuration server system (Java, Linux, PHP, scripting) ○ developed and maintained a C implementation of a Java VM: Java 1.1 on extremely constrained hardware.○ worked with C/C++ and Java interfacing multiple OS’s on memory and processor starved embedded hardware○ authored the core timer API used by all applications and many core systems such as threading (C/Java)○ authored DSM-CC (MPEG transport) object carousel APIs and ETV data carousel APIs (C)○ re-factored core tuning-for-presentation APIs (C/Java)

At a satellite office of this multinational media company which—among other things—develops award winning 3D games for various consoles and the PC, I:○ took over and finished a SoftImage plug-in to cleanup motion capture data (C)○ supported a team of 3D artists by developing custom software tools from inception to release: hair modelling plugin (Maya/MEL), backup solution (C++, Perl) animation calculator (C++), remote rendering UI (Perl/Tk)

For this graphics industry leader in 3D translation software, which has been awarded the IEEE Excellence Award and the Golden Pixie Award, I:○ enhanced a non-linear (movie) editor (C++, MFC), optimizing its GUI by caching and multi-threading○ wrote a spike solution Apple QuickTime MP3 & AVI player (C, QuickTime SDK)○ completed two databases (Microsoft Access, VBA, DAO), a self-initiative optimizing business operations
