Manager of the Information Analysis Center (IAC) and Advanced Search and Discovery (ASD) teams at the Defense Threat Reduction Information Analysis Center (DTRIAC). Primary responsibilities include the reinvigoration of the IAC team, composed of nuclear effects subject matter experts (SMEs), and the direction of a large software development program aimed at providing an intelligent search of the DTRIAC collection of historical nuclear weapons effects (NWE) and weapons test data, incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to modernize the timely access to the entirety of the digital catalog.

Albuquerque, New Mexico Area

Principal Investigator, team lead, and technical contributor in wide variety of areas, including security tool profiling, machine learning, ontological modeling, vulnerability and risk assessment, and insider threat research. Focuses on cybersecurity and combining machine-learning approaches with other analytical methods for answering questions with provenance.Primary role today as a the technical lead for multi-lab, nationwide, and multi-million dollar effort across DOE complex. Ensured technical capabilities met expectations and proposal goals for this collaborative effort, which includes an understanding multiple disciplines: translation, transformation, and analysis of data, natural language processing, machine learning, deductive reasoning engines, and semantic web technologies.

Worked to vet the safety and effectiveness of new security-related technologies. This involves testing them in various environments, at grander scales than originally intended, and challenging assertions made by technology providers. Implemented older research for detecting malicious domains and proposed modifications to feature sets that showed promising improvement. Worked to ensure that these solutions anonymized data appropriately, were resistant to circumvention, and were highly accurate.

Worked alongside a professor and under a DHS Scientific Leadership Award, I amassisting in researching methods of approaches to analysis of large data in variousdomains, by way of generating a novel, abstract framework using ontologies.

Greater Pittsburgh Area

Assisted the Carnegie Mellon's CERT professionals in developing an InsiderThreat Indicator Ontology and exploring methods of analysis for text-based datato discover hidden, potentially malicious individuals within organizations.

As part of a larger work, conducted research into ways to produce meaningfulmetadata from network data that would aid in faster query resolution. Alsocreated a module for a larger system that builds such succinct details frommuch larger datasets. This work will be used in a “Network TiVo” project, whereanalysts can rewind and replay events as they occurred in the past.

Built and maintained code for Veriscape's software in high-availability environments used within Fortune 500 companies. Deployed a large-scale translation project, implemented various methods to obfuscate code, and devised solutions to communicate with multi-language software as part of a specialized Tiger Team. Additionally administered HP-UX, AIX, and Red Hat Linux systems.
