As Team Leader for the Racing Chemistry Laboratory I managed the scientific, operational and business requirements of a team to provide comprehensive sports drug testing, analytical chemistry and toxicology services. My team used best practice analytical chemistry techniques to test a wide variety of biological specimen types originating from human, workplace and animal sources. I hold tertiary and professional qualifications relevant to this field and routinely presented formal expert evidence and interpretation of scientific results in forensic investigations. I also brought to this role considerable knowledge and experience pertaining to quality management under the principles of ISO/IEC 17025. In this role I maintained accreditation for my team under the NATA Chemical Testing field 7.71 - Biological Monitoring. I am also a professional member of the International Association of Official Racing Chemists (AORC).
Forensic Science Laboratory
The Forensic Science Laboratory holds accreditation in fields of Chemical Testing and Forensic Science (NATA). It is also compliant with the principles of multiple Australian Standards and produces high quality work which meets the requirement of numerous specialised best practice guides. In this role I collaborated with scientists and stakeholders to ensure ongoing accreditation in multiple scientific disciplines such as toxicology, illicit drug analysis and physical evidence testing. My work encompassed the entire cycle of laboratory quality system management, including:- Creating, implementing and monitoring effective quality control processes- Policy development and strategic analysis of risk- Meeting changing client needs (including changes to legislation and accreditation standards)- Demonstrating compliance with accreditation requirements - Continuous improvement to the laboratory’s operationsI successfully managed multiple formal audits by external bodies and ensured ongoing accreditation for scientific areas which provide forensic scientific analysis for critical government services, including the State Coroner and WA Police. I also represented the ChemCentre at national quality management forums.

In this capacity I have considerable experience attending contaminated sites and crime scenes to provide chemical, forensic and safety advice to external agencies such as DFES and WA Police.
