Barmans is a well established supplier of bar and catering equipment to commercial and domestic customers. I was hired by the company as a freelance designer, working to given briefs and deadlines whilst providing input as to which products were pushed through to the final design stages. My responsibilities included: Designing initial product concepts; Taking the best conceptual sketches and ideas and modelling them in CAD; Liaising with the management team and taking them through the design process; Producing mock-ups and prototypes; Selecting materials and contacting manufacturers and suppliers to discuss cost of production.

Biochrom designs and manufactures scientific instruments for a wide range of applications in the clinical, life-science and industrial markets. Its product line includes advanced spectrometers, compact spectrometers and colourimeters, microplate instrumentation, and amino acid analysers. While working at the company my duties and responsibilities included: Designing and modelling new parts and products, mostly using CAD software; Updating and improving existing products; Chemical and clinical testing to evaluate products and material selection of new products; Liaising with suppliers and distributors on a regular basis;  Creating and updating technical drawings for use within the companies’ system and for suppliers: Documenting tests results and using them to write lab reports for company use.
