The Vehicle Exterior team engineers decorative A Class & functional components in plastics, metal, glass and carbon fiber. Panel finishes include paint, textured mold in color, high gloss and chrome. We develop a large number of systems including Bumper Fascias, Grilles, Exterior Trim, FRUNK, Ducting, Wheel Liners, Badges, Appliques, and Front End Modules. The team works on every stage of the development process from initial feasibility, detailed design, tooling review & kick off, trials and supports into mass production. TESLA injection molds a large variety of its plastics onsite. The team specifies, commissions and installs molding machines and manual or robotic assembly equipment while optimizing factory density and material/process flow.
