I served as AOP councillor for Wales. The responsibilities of this role are:- Represent members' views and assist in making AOP Policy- Represent the AOP to its members and be an AOP ambassador at events and online- Keep up to date with AOP policies, information and services- To sign post members towards AOP support and resources

The purpose of this new virtual policy group is to provide the AOP with a new source of interested and proactive people to contribute to AOP policy development, and to promote engagement with policy and the work of our Policy Committee and Council through their networks.

For 8 years I worked as a tutor for the Welsh Optometry Postgraduate Education Centre. Most recently I have been involved with tutoring on the OPT010 Glaucoma 1 and OPT033 Paediatric Eye Care 2 modules. Additionally I am regularly involved with the Refraction Certificate Revision Course for Ophthalmologists, and the EHEW new practitioner accreditation courses. I have also worked as an assessor on the Virtual MECS accreditation. Most recently I have been a facilitator for the peer review sessions for LOCSU.

I previously worked as a stage one assessor for the College of Optometrists. My primary responsibilities involved the assessment of the competency of pre-registration optometrists undertaking their pre-registration training.

I completed my Pre-registration period as an Optometrist at Parish and Green Optometrists in Pencoed. I performed several hundred eye examinations, optometric dispenses whilst covering all the competencies set out by the College of Optometrists. I entered and passed the July OSCE's on first attempt.

I was required to gain experience within a Hospital as part of the pre-registration process. I spent 1 day per week at Ophthalmology, Princess of Wales Hospital. Mainly I shadowed the consultant Ophthalmologists, and Orthoptists, however I did perform Volk, Gonioscopy and GAT on patients at the request of the staff.

I completed the Specsavers INPRACTICE course. In addition to the previous roles I also gained experience in dispensing multifocal, focimetry, slit lamp use, and performed eye examinations on members of staff.
