View work here: jamesbuttonfilms.comI’ve written/directed/edited/produced (and sometimes starred in) over fifteen short films, collectively nabbing 46 awards at international film festivals and competitions, with over a hundred nominations to date, including the shortlist for the IMDB New Filmmaker Award and a Sundance Shorts Competition.I’ve run a small production company based in South Wales for six years shooting short-form promotional video content, in addition to short fiction films. I’ve also worked as a producer for Gorilla Editors in London, working with clients such as Apple and Adidas.Viral hit, ​The Goat​, gained an American fan-base back in 2013 which in turn crowd-funded two sequels and four trips to the US to attend screening and meet ‘goat enthusiasts’. During the months of road-tripping around America, I shot a comedy documentary series called ​When In America​ which is being released online later this year, with a plan to use it as a calling card for a new travel series.The Corpse​ a comedy horror short I created in 2012, as a weekend project during Uni for £50, was picked up by Eli Roth’s Crypt TV in LA who commissioned a web-series turned short film which I produced. ​The Corpse Series ​has entertained global audiences on a festival tour, from Miami to Ontario, picking up 12 awards. Screening at major genre festivals, such as Frightfest in London and MotelX in Lisbon. Critics have likened the comedy to ​Shaun Of The Dead ​and ​Monty Python.​ Kim Newman from Empire Magazine described it as “cheerfully murderous, yet disarmingly sweet”. The short stood up against BBC productions one hundred times the budget when nominated at the Celtic Media Festival 2018 for Best Comedy, and for both Writer and Short Film at the BAFTA Cymru Awards. I’m looking to continue to develop ​The Corpse Movie ​(working title),​ ​a comedy road movie across Wales as my debut feature film.Recently I’ve pitched a new dark comedy TV series to BBC Cymru and have been commissioned to develop and write a pilot, looking to further my career as a comedy writer.
