Jim Smith is CEO of JCSmith Advisors (www.jcsmithadvisors.com) which provides strategic consulting services to bank CEOs and boards, institutional bank investors and select fintechs that are natural partners to banks. Jim is retired Chairman and former long-serving CEO of Webster Bank (NYSE: WBS), where he holds the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus. Webster is a $80 billion regional commercial bank with a long history of creating value for customers, shareholders, communities, and banking colleagues.Jim serves as Senior Advisor to: Midsize Bank Coalition of America (MBCA) which he co-founded in 2011; Synerise, Inc. (a global leader in Advanced Predictive Behavioral Modeling); and Mutualink, Inc. (a leading provider of Automated Emergency Response Solutions).Jim serves as a board member of AdvanceCT, where he served as founding Co-chair (2019-22). AdvanceCT is a business-driven not-for-profit working in close partnership with CT’s Governor Lamont, the business community, and Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), focused on stimulating business development, economic growth, and job creation. Jim served as Co-chair of the Connecticut Commission on Fiscal Stability and Economic Growth (2017-18), appointed by then Governor Malloy and the CT legislature. The Commission made recommendations to the Governor and legislature regarding solutions to CT’s fiscal and economic growth challenges. Jim has been deeply involved in community organizations throughout his career, including his current positions as a board member (Past Chair) of Trinity Health of New England, a board member (Founding General Chairman) of The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation (affiliated with Archdiocese of Hartford), and Chairman of the Harold Webster Smith Foundation. Throughout his career, Jim has been an enthusiastic board/executive committee member of multiple Chambers of Commerce and served for many years on the Executive Committee of CT Business & Industry Assn (CBIA). He served as Chairman of multiple United Way fundraising campaigns across CT. Jim is a graduate of Dartmouth College (AB: Psychology).
