I’m responsible for maintaining the Design Intent of Electrical Protection Systems associated with the Sellafield Ltd Electricity Distribution Network. The Sellafield Electricity Distribution Network consists of 70 Substations (10 11kV Substations, 4 3.3kV Substations and 56 400V Substations). My responsibilities are:-- Oversee and implement improvements to the existing protection system- Support fault diagnosis following breakdown- Provide solutions for testing and commissioning of the protection system- Supply in-depth knowledge of protection schemes to support System Engineers, Operations and Maintenance.- Provide support to design and contractors for the provision of Electrical Protection Schemes- Implement a revised protection philosophy across the 11kV, 3.3kV and 400V networks- Owner of 4 corporate standards- Sellafield Subject Matter Expert for Arc Flash, Fault Calculations, Electrical Protection Systems, 11kV Switchgear, 3.3kV Switchgear and 400V Switchgear and Cable Calculations- Owner of the Sellafield Power Distribution Model

As a C,E&I Responsible Engineer reporting to the Project Engineering Manager I was responsible for the following:-- Design and Procurement of two modular HV substations worth £2.45 million- Design and Procurement of 14 11/0.433 kV transformers worth £560k- Design and Procurement of HV cable routes totalling 17.3 km- Design and procurement of 12 LV switch oards worth £10.3 million- Managing a team of 7 design engineer engineers with a budget of £700k per annum- Undertaking electrical studies to underpin a £200 million network upgrade and substation replacement project

As a C,E&I Lead Enginner reporting to the C,E&I Responsible Engineer I was responsible for the following:-- Design and procurement of two 1.5 MVA transformers worth £66,885- Design and procurement of two 270 kW compressors worth £475,775- Design Subject Matter Expert for Arc Flash Hazard (calculations produced for 838 switchboards)- Design Subject Matter Expert for Electrical Protection Systems (Author of 400V switchgear, 11kV switchgear and site protection philosophy standards)- Owner of the ERACS power distribution model for the Sellafield site- Managing the C,E&I design team on a Substation Replacement project worth £62.1 million- Subject Matter Expert for fault/cable calculations

Reporting to the C,E&I Responsible Engineer on a £43.7 miilion Substation Replacement project I was responsible for the following:-- Production of a load study on 10 Substations- Science and Engineering Ambassador (STEM)- Partial Discharge Monitoring of 11kV Switchgear- Supporting the project design through a preliminary design gate; this included production of scope documentation/reports as well as checking documents/drawings.

As part of the accredited IET Sellafield Graduate scheme I was responsible for the following:-- Procurement of an Electrical Power System Analysis Software Package (ERACS)- Development of an entire model for the Sellafied site Electrical Distribution Network (12 11 kV Substations, 4 3.3kV Substations and 59 400V Substations)- Group Secretary for Electricity Supply Infrastructure Centre of Expertise- Production of full electrical maintenance programme as part of the Capenhurst LV Refurbishment Design Team (Full set of maintenance instructions and detailed 20 year programme)- Production of full preliminary design package for two new 400V substations to replace ageing switchgear

As a C,E&I Graduate Engineer reporting to the C,E&I Lead Engineer I was responsible for undertaking design work which included the following:-- Designing the building services for a small sludge treatment plant- Production of Quality Plan's and Project Quality Assurance Programs for a High Hazard Reduction project- Checking of C,E&I Designers drawings and documents- Designing a control system for a ventilation system for a large product store- Workshop tested a nuclear assay system for a fully automated facility, this included testing a control system for a charge machine as well as development testing for a crane- Production of software code for a electrode welser and demonstration to client- Production of a full suite of mechanical handling typical schematics for use on a project to retrieve waste from a dry silo

Responsible for analysing the existing capacity of Super Grid Transformers within the UK and compare this to expected future demand. The outcome of this work was a report producing recommendations for the Strategic Management Team.

Reaponsible for the implementation of a new project management tool on a Export Facility project. Responsible for updating project specific standards, implementing small power design ready for in-plant commissioning and responsible for producing an intranet site for BNFL's partnership with ABB.
