• Assisting in the day to day running of the lab in a clean room. Testing products against various international standards.• Mechanical assembly – Using hand and air tools to re-build high powered lasers as RMA. • Electrical assembly – Assembling optical cable using various hand tools and jigs, crimping wires, soldering, testing using multimeter.• Actively aligning fibres using calibration machinery (Fujikura splicer) ensuring fibers meet specification. • Ramping up laser to rig for testing using various software and applications.• Testing lasers on efficiency and using thermal cameras to identify issues on rig.• Following in house written instructions/diagrams.• Routing of fibres/splicing.• Potting, using a silicon compound.• Manually and automatically winding reels of spools to desired length depending on wattage of laser.• Hand eye coordination and good manual dexterity required for handling fibres, preventing contamination and using high magnification microscopes.• Adhering to health and safety policies, COSHH and ensuring PPE is worn at all times.
