I'm a creative practitioner and academic in various contemporary and emergent media forms, including immersive, metaverse/web3, social tech., transmedia, and transhumanism. I'm really just fascinated by any-and-all technologies, formats, processes and ideas that we can use to tell stories and communicate with.I am an expert in creative workflows and methodologies including Design Thinking and Sprint projects, and have designed my innovative undergraduate course at the University of Gloucestershire to be a pioneer in using such processes structurally within teaching and curriculum design.My current PhD research examines time-perception and computing technologies, and why it is that we experience chronoceptive distortion relating to use of immersive, mobile computing, and social technologies. In my chapter in my edited collection - Transmedia Selves - I expand on this idea to include time-loss in memory formation within virtual experiences. My other publications have covered immersive, media history and economics, transmedia, and suspension of disbelief.I'm a Senior Lecturer on a unique, amazing, and fast-moving undergraduate degree course at UoG, where I work with inquisitive, informed, and innovative students, and enjoy lots of latitude to develop any and all of the innovative ideas that we like to come up with. Our innovative and boundary-pushing course project has developed each year, with loads of amazing work and graduate success stories each year, and we remain confident that there isn't another course like ours out there!As an educator I'm fascinated by innovative and paradigm-altering pedagogy; I have received a University Teaching Fellowship for my design of the Digital Media undergraduate programme, and I operate on a simple maxim that there are no such things as 'soft skills'! Skills such as agility and adaptability, creative problem-solving, risk-positivity, disruptive methodologies and more are some of the most fundamental for graduates to succeed in the contemporary work environment, and therefore need to be understood, delivered, and practiced just like (perhaps) more easily-understood and assessed skills.
