After just over 2 years in my role as Business Manager for the MediaPros sub-brand of Academia, I was promoted to Technical Manager to found the technical installation and support team for the Group. Initially, this comprised of three engineers (including myself) centred around Windows and Apple installation, integration and support. Over the course of 18 months, this grew to a team of 12 engineers supporting Apple, Windows, Networking and Enterprise Storage environments for the SMB, SME, NFP, Media and Education/Public Sector verticals, as well as the provision of an Apple Authorised Service Provider within Academia.Responsibilities:• Technical design and solution architecture• Staff Management (inc. career planning and mentoring)• Training and qualification management• Product and USP design, development and management• Assisting Sales and Marketing teams with product promotion and proposal• Warranty Product Management (inc. risk management and cost profiling)• Tier 1 vendor liaison (Apple, Microsoft etc.)• Helpdesk provision and management• Customer liaison and business review• Project Management

In March 2010, the Audio and Video Team at Computer Warehouse (CW[Pro]) was acquired by the Academia Group to expand its commercial Audio and Video Solutions offering. As part of this, the team expanded, and I was promoted to overall Business Manager of the new brand. I joined Computer Warehouse (having previously been a customer) to lead the Audio and Video Solutions team. This involved a sub-brand (CW[Pro]) being created, vendor relationships being gained and maintained, leading the team of subject matter experts in creating technical solutions and putting forward propositions to customers.During my time in this role, I gained an extremely strong reputation within the vendor space for Technical Solutions – as a result, vendor support was abundant and available. This allowed both myself and my team to provide solutions to customers such as Gary Barlow, Discovery Networks Europe (The Discovery Channel), Sky and the BBC amongst others.
