Responsible for the management and production of products in approximately seven departments/cells within the plant/facility. Management of these areas involved approximately 70-75 individuals, both directly and indirectly over three shifts. For a period of time, I was directly responsible for approximately 235 operators due to a lack of supervisors. As the Value Stream Manager, my responsibilities included all aspects of safety, quality, production, delivery, cost, training, and attendance. It was my responsibility to manage, review, and set the production schedules for all shifts and communicate expectations to all supervisors on each shift within my Value Stream. To ensure and promote team work and development, monthly VS meetings were conducted to communicate performance and areas of concern/needed improvement.

Promoted and relocated to manage 1st and 2nd shift operations consisting ~60 – 90 floor personnel (mechanics, machine and forklift operators, and packers) and ~5 – 7 Team Leaders. Hired personnel, maintained attendance, discipline, and safety. Maintained high standards of housekeeping in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices. • Attained 99.6% customer delivery rate.• Reduced overall turnover rate from 28.9% to 11.6%.• Reduced changeover downtime by 8% by establishing process guidelines and sustained monitoring.• Facilitated meetings and safety training 2 – 3 times monthly for > 75 personnel.• Coordinated work provided by maintenance and machine shop departments utilizing 44 Thermoformers and 15 Extruders.

Responsible for the supervision of 2nd shift operations consisting of 30 – 40 personnel (mechanics, machine and forklift operators, and packers), and 2 – 3 department supervisors. Coordinated hiring of personnel, maintained attendance, discipline, and safety.• Cross-training efforts resulted in 15% productivity uptime for shift.• Implemented defect investigation process decreasing customer complaints for team by 21%. • Zero recordable incidents for 18 month period and lead all teams with fewest first aides for the same period.

Sherman/Denison, Texas Area

Promoted to manage the Affiliate Plant Operations consisting of ~85 – 110 hourly union employees (machine operators and mechanics) and ~3 – 4 shift supervisors. Managed employee attendance and discipline. Maintained and enforced safety and quality standards. • Implementation of lean concepts in 2002 resulted in a 12% productivity increase over a 6 month period.• Managed an 11% headcount reduction without suffering a loss in productivity or efficiency.• Led Business Center operations resulting in recognition for best overall plant process efficiency in 2002 and 2003.

Sherman/Denison, Texas Area

Responsible for the productivity of 45 – 55 hourly union employees on a Business Center 1st shift. Includes the delivery of finished goods to shipping and the distribution center, overall safety of operators, quality control and assurance, and personnel management.• Directed the reorganization of 27 gauze sponge flatbeds resulting in a 9% increase in productivity after 4 months.• Coordinated the movement of machines in 3 other departments resulting in a 6.2% overall increase in productivity and 2.5% decrease in scrap.• Received 2000 Golden Key Award – Consistent Outstanding Performance.

Promoted to manage and lead ~ 200 union hourly employees and 3 – 6 salaried supervisors in a high volume manufacturing environment on 1st and 2nd shifts. Responsible for safety, quality, compliance with ISO9001/QS9000 standards, product compliance, operator performance, personnel management, discipline, and employee break schedules. • Coordinated the implementation of self-directed work teams resulting in an 8% productivity improvement and ~ a 15% decrease in daily absenteeism. • Shift recognized for the best overall productivity in 1999.• Zero recordable injuries over a 2 year period.• Coordinated schedules for up to 18 production lines and 12 packaging machines.
