Manufacturing Manager for a steel fabrication / assembly site. Led projects to improve machine up time, and improve employee safety. Provided daily support to a batch assembly operation. Conducted continuous improvement projects in Houston and Monterrey, Mexico. Managed the Epicor ERP part number system, and maintained standard conventions. Trained and qualified fork lift drivers, and served as an active safety team member.• Led a project to move two different fabrication plants and consolidate them into one 10.000 SF facility. The project included tracking and moving WIP and finished goods. Contracted with Riggers to move and setup the equipment - three stamping machines and two 20-foot wire machines. Designed the new site layout and coordinated the make ready steps for installation and startup of the relocated equipment. Result: The project was completed on time and on budget.• Reviewed the status of company stamping dies. The older dies needed to be replaced or upgraded. Using the original German blueprints, re-engineered the dies into Cad drawings and found a die maker to make replacement dies. Result: Ensured the ability to continue to produce a critical product for the company• Facilitated process improvement projects in the sister plant in Monterrey, Mexico. Helped Engineers in Monterrey follow the same procedures and quality levels as the main plant. Establishing best practices and benchmarks improved the quality and reliability and reduced the frequency of process trouble-shooting required by the headquarters site.• Implemented a web-based Preventive Maintenance Program, replacing the legacy manual entry program. Migrated all machine data to the new program. The PM program allowed real time reporting and alerts from and to personal cell phones and devices and eliminated the need chasing down techs and facilities personnel.

Field leader on efforts to develop a single piece flow methodology in a ship building facility. Conducted continuous process improvement monitoring and documentation on older equipment; and recommended methods for cycle time improvement. • Studied the beam and channel cutting and profiling process. Established standards for the manual processes. Used the data to recommend an $850K robotic cutting / profiling cell. The return on investment was 12 months. • Started the lean process by drawing up a value stream map for the entire shipyard. Described in detail each step in the process and the tools techniques and manpower required. Focused on areas where materials where handled multiple times. The result was the beginning of several process improvement projects throughout the shipyard.

Presented, designed, planned and executed Lean, 5S projects for the refurbishment / repair workstations for a commercial musical instrument rental company.• Redesigned the customer picking area in an 88K SF warehouse. Used AutoCAD to propose the changes and involved warehouse leadership in the layout. Result: The new plan streamlined our processes in the shipping area and increased output.• Proposed and installed sonic cleaning equipment for the trumpets and other brass instruments. Result: The new processes reduced cleaning time and increased quality, with no change in headcount.

Terre Haute, Indiana Area

Led a team to relocate a 140K SF wholesale order fulfillment center to a new 250K SF space. Improved the pack and pick process 13% less travel; directed contractors for all equipment installation.• Analyzed the paths and traffic patterns of the AGVs during a production day and found the high traffic areas that were creating traffic jams and delivery delays. Result: The redesigned patterns relieved the traffic jams and improved delivery to the automated storage areas• Planned and led an order fulfillment warehouse move. All drawings were in AutoCAD, Responsible for clearing out the old and new warehouses, setting a schedule of all activities, managing the budget, approving contractors through a bid cycle, overseeing the placement of all utilities, troubleshooting challenges that arose to the completion of the of the project. Result: The move was completed on time and on budget.
