Am mainly responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and ensuring users get maximum benefits from them. Individual tasks vary depending on the size and structure of the organisation, I install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications;monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;talking staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues;troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;replacing parts as required;providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;supporting the roll-out of new applications;setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;responding within agreed time limits to call-outs;working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);prioritising and managing many open cases at one time;rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, such as software developers;testing and evaluating new technology;conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment.

This requires envisioning the company’s service offerings as a web-based business, leading implementation of web applications, and planning for risk and growth.ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Planning In partnership with the company’s founders, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services as a web-based business, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success. Identify technology trends and evolving social behavior that may support or impede the success of the business. Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks and the deployment stack) for delivering the company’s services. Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all web-based services. Participate as a member of the senior management team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately and the organization’s resources are used responsibly, particularly in the areas of software development, office networks and computers, and telecommunications. Collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies that support company organizational needs.
