I designed and implemented an automated testing framework that was used by the entire development team. The framework was written in JavaScript and consisted of Mocha tests running on node.js. It ran integration tests against our web application’s REST endpoints and verified the performance of our product based on a reference network. This allowed Martello to significantly reduce the time and effort required for product testing while increasing quality. Martello hired a full-time developer to take over my duties at the conclusion of my co-op term.

I developed a capacity testing framework for our SIP-based Voice over IP (VoIP) server environment. It was written using Junit and SIPp (a specialized SIP stack for testing). This involved creating a virtual device that could replicate our Android-based product’s SIP and RTP communications. I was able to determine the limit for the number of devices our server could support, allowing the company to make confident capacity engineering decisions.

I developed a proof of concept to allow the company to assess product fit for a 911 emergency dispatching application. This was accomplished using an MQTT server providing communications between services running on the Android phones (written in Java) and a Python script on a remote Raspberry Pi. I also performed Android, Raspberry Pi and Bash development, and handled much of the quality assurance for our product, verifying software developed by our team in India and working to find and resolve bugs.
