I took part in my high-school's JROTC leadership program starting in my freshman year. While I chose not to enlist after graduating, I continue to use those lessons every day in my adult life. One of the most valuable skills I've learned was conflict-resolution, something constantly required during my time as a Customer Service Representative at Publix Super Markets. Oftentimes, I could find a suitable solution for both the customer and my fellow employees. Even on the days when a customer would storm out, I could still keep my coworkers calm and reflective of the experience. This would result in a return to status quo, and we wouldn't have problems with those particular customers again, because we knew how to handle that particular scenario. My leadership training has also come up a plethora of times during my college career. I find myself taking a head role for group projects, directing my partner(s) on what would be best for our assignments, and managing times for us to meet in order to initiate said project. I was also voted Vice President of Hillsborough Community College's chess club, and helped manage a multi-school tournament between our nearby rival schools. Once I moved to Mount Dora (where I currently live), I still found these skills valuable. Outside of school, I have been able to assemble a handful of my friends to complete personal projects together, utilizing my eye for video-editing and graphic design to determine the project's art direction.Currently, I'm working with another friend of mine to develop our own independent film, documenting the significance of tourism to the local economy and night-life of Mount Dora.
