I am the sixth president of the University of New England, serving since July 2017. As president, I have led the university in developing and executing a strategic plan that centers UNE’s mission to enhance the health of individuals, communities, and the natural world. I have overseen growth in academic, research, and athletic programs, new facilities, and strategic external partnerships. I am a champion of the university as the ultimate marketplace of ideas. At UNE, I founded “The President’s Forum,” a moderated discussion series that facilitates open and robust discourse on timely topics to promote a deeper understanding of critical issues facing society. An advocate for the transformational marriage of active classroom instruction with experiential learning, I have overseen curricular and pedagogical innovations to prepare students for success through the acquisition of deep disciplinary knowledge, essential life skills, and critical habits of mind. Formerly, I served as executive vice provost and dean of the Graduate College at Drexel University, where I also served as interim provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, head of the Department of Psychology, and president of the University Faculty.
