Mike Rozmus, CTO of Rockingham Memorial Hospital, asked me to join his team as an interim IT Director of Systems and Applications. While at RMH I oversaw all IT operations, IT Security, Helpdesk and Telecommunications. After 6 months, I was asked to join Sentara/RMH (SRMH) as the full time Director of RMH IT.I successfully integrated Rockingham Memorial Hospital into Sentara Healthcare. This entailed transitioning our infrastructure and EMR from Meditech into Epic. The integration encompassed network, servers, applications, desktops, helpdesk, and telecommunications. After successfully integrating RMH, I was tasked with integrating the newly acquired Martha Jefferson Hospital (MJH) into Sentara Healthcare. The integration encompassed network, servers, applications, telecommunications, the Cerner EMR and ancillary systems. At Fauquier Health, I managed the IT operations and engineering for the entire healthcare system. I was responsible for the largest budget of the organization. During my 4 years with Fauquier Health I was able to institute some ground-breaking innovations. I developed partner relationships with key vendors such as Sun Microsystems, IBM, Oracle, EMC, Brocade, Veritas and Sybase. Attained the support of IBM, Sun, Oracle, and Veritas to market and support the RealTime product. Established OEM relations with IBM, EMC, Veritas, and Sun.Established and managed an Asian distribution channel for China; which included translating all documentation into Mandarin Chinese. We established a Canadian distribution channel doubling the sales pipeline in less than a quarter from $1.6M to $3.2M.The company and technology was sold to Mendocino Soft in California, run by Peter Levine from Veritas.

I developed patches for operating system bugs in VMS 5.0-2 and the All-in-1 Office Automation Software. I assisted Digital Equipment Corporation software support staff in analyzing, programming, and documenting custom features made to the operating systems and layered software, specifically developed for Naval Pentagon Computer Services. I also developed security software used to analyze system security and provide audit trails for security breaches on the VAX cluster and the local area network environments.

I was one of three consultants to receive an award from NASA for playing an instrumental role in returning the U.S. to space. I was contracted after the Challenger disaster to design, develop, program, and implement the Data Processing Software system (DPS). This system was used to analyze launch data from the Space Transportation System (Space Shuttle). I established systems to extract data from degraded backup tapes of STS 4 through STS 26. I rewrote the operating system to support data streaming rates through system backplanes. While at NASA, I designed and developed intelligent software to monitor system security and data integrity for the Space Shuttle Data Processing Software system.
