Provide consulting engineer services to nonprofit organizations in Eswatini. Accomplishments include: Completed thorough wastewater needs projection project, including comprehensive soil testing, for rural health clinic, showing that a planned septic system would be unsuitable for the needs of the clinic and the community. As a result, the clinic sought a more suitable wastewater treatment facility, avoiding a $25K system that was likely to fail within a short time due to unsuitable soil. Developed digital copies of plan sheets of the Bulembu town map, land contours, and infrastructure, importing the plans into AutoCAD software while scaling and adding layers for each type of infrastructure, roadway, and building. Assisting Bulembu Ministries with relocation of some resources and planning for new site. Leading the Maintenance Department in maintaining and upgrading town infrastructure to include water system, sewer system, sewage treatment plant, solid waste collection and disposal, streets and public green spaces. Significant accomplishments include:Served as sole design engineer and project manager for construction of a major 6-inch water pipeline, which included a 160-foot catwalk along a cliff face, preparing all plans, specifications, bills of quantities, and construction contracts for the nine-month project. Hired and managed all contractors for the project. Reviewed all payment requests and inspected all work to successful completion of the project. This 1.6 km water pipeline project improved access to better source drinking water for over 1K people and helped the village reduce operating costs by an average of $3K per month.Planned and directed work to renovate an unused section of the town health clinic to allow the government of Swaziland (now Eswatini) develop an ambulance service and primary health facility, improving healthcare for the village.Led renovation of an abandoned bank building in town to allow a newly contracted bank operator to operate a new bank branch. Directed state response to reports of failing dams. Provided inspection and investigation to ensure that dam construction met recognized standards and state regulatory guidance. Developed corrective action orders while ensuring all required documentation was completed for all inspections and findings. Developed guidelines for design of dams, while reviewing plans of proposed process improvements to division operations. Performed breach analyses of high and significant hazard dams using HEC-RAS software, developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Performed hydrologic analyses of watershed and hydraulic analyses of spillways using HEC-HMS and HydroCAD software.
