I am an assistant professor of Computational Biochemistry at Western Washington University located in the beautiful city of Bellingham, WA. My research is in the area of computational chemistry, molecular dynamics, and modeling of complex systems in biological and materials chemistry. I have more than 10 years experience in fundamental science research and expertise in developing computational methods and enhanced sampling algorithms for efficient simulation of complex systems and rare events. My research is highly interdisciplinary and I have collaborated with scientists working in chemical engineering, spectroscopy, and neuroscience. I am also an experienced STEM educator, having taught chemistry lecture and lab (more than 100 hours of in-class instruction time) at the college level in addition to advanced undergraduate courses and introductory courses for non-science majors at the University of Oregon and at Western Washington University. I served as a University of Oregon science literacy fellow and have expertise in applying research-based pedagogy to promote active learning and student-centered teaching strategies in university science courses. Additionally, I have experience as a research mentor and in training undergraduate and masters students from diverse backgrounds in fundamental research.
