I am a non-profit professional with almost two decades of experience in public health, advocacy, and education. Working in both the public and private sector, I am always looking for new and exciting ways to challenge myself and make a positive impact in the world. Throughout my career, I have been recognized as a leader and visionary for LGBTQ+, SA, and individuals living with cognitive and intellectual disabilities.Until recently, I worked as the Executive Director of the LGBT Center of Raleigh. For the past nine years, we worked on countless campaigns to lift the voices of marginalized communities. We ascribe to leading by example: as the quote goes, “As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Our Center has received many different awards from both community members and partner organizations, including El Centro Hispano, Equality NC, HRC North Carolina, and the City of Raleigh. Before the LGBT Center, I was a public health consultant for John Snow Inc and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health.Colleagues know me as a highly creative leader who can always be trusted to come up with new and inclusive approaches. My management style is to create a culture of learning and growing, which helps us move forward as a group and leverages everyone’s skill sets. While I can (and often do) work well alone, I am at my best collaborating with others.I hold a Masters in Public Policy (MPP Social Policy) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA Non-Profit Management) from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. My undergraduate degrees are from UNC Wilmington, with a BS in Business Administration and a BA in Philosophy.Currently, I am privately consulting with two local non-profits around board management and fundraising, I am also active with NC DHHS as a Project Director.
