My role as business development manager had me negotiating with various travel agents, OTA’s, inbound operators and at sales events such as ATE. I was responsible with negotiating rates, commissions and developing new avenues to sell rooms. I also set room rates with approval by the general manager, as well as room availability and blackout dates. As well as all promotional activities, including promoting functions and events being held at the hotel. I established and used a social media presence to promote the business more directly to consumers; running several very success full marketing campaigns during my time all of which had a noticeable impact on hotel occupancy. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as the business development manager for the Cairns Sheridan, having worked my way into that position from starting my employment with the company as a bar man a few years prior and worked happily until I was offered a new position as general manager of the Tropical Heritage.

As reception manager I worked closely with management to ensure the smooth and professional operations of the front office staff at the Cairns Sheridan.
